Mount Dora Bed & Breakfast Getaway
Being in the destination wedding industry, we get to travel a bit. Almost all the time, it is for business. So, this past weekend, Chris and I decided to get off the grid and venture to Mount Dora, Florida. This is a beautiful sleepy town located 45 minutes north of Orlando. Very easy to get to (4 hour ride for us from Fort Lauderdale).
When we started looking up locations to stay at, I really did not want to stay at one of the chain hotels and Chris found the perfect venue. Heron Cay Lakeview Bed & Breakfast. I immediately fell in love with this property and the wheels starting turning. This should be one of the locations that we offer couples for their special day.
I have posted on our website photos from the property and the eight gorgeous bedrooms / suites where couples and families can stay.
We also experienced some of the local restaurants and wandered the lovely streets of Mount Dora. This is definitely the quiet getaway location that can just take your breathe away with every turn.
On Monday (we extended our weekend one day because we just did not want to go back to reality), we took our little boat on the lake to explore. We traveled from the lighthouse on Lake Dora (the only inland lighthouse anywhere!) to Lake Eustis and then to Lake Harris. These lakes are huge and the paths we took exploring just blew us away.
When we returned to Heron Cay Lakeview Bed & Breakfast, I sat down to talk with the innkeepers, Randy and his wife Margie. It was at that moment that we decided we were going to offer weddings at the property for couples and intimate wedding groups! I was now the wedding coordinator for this incredible location. Now, I just have to get the word out.
